Create Your Own Abstract Art Tote Bag with Fastex Fabric Painting Ink:

Updated: Jan 31

Paint and create your designs on canvas tote bags with Fastex Fabric Painting ink.

Here is a fun project that both kids and adults will love – painting your very own abstract art designs onto canvas tote bags using Fastex Fabric Painting Ink. It's a simple, creative way to make stylish, eco-friendly totes that express your unique personality.

Materials Needed:

Let's Get Started:

Step 1: Prepare the Bag:

Cut a piece of cardboard to fit snugly inside the tote bag to prevent wrinkles and ink bleeding. Lay this inside the bag.

Step 2: Create a Frame:

Using masking tape, create a frame along all four sides of the tote bag. Ensure the tape adheres firmly to prevent any paint seepage.

Step 3: Design Masking:

Use the masking tape to create abstract areas on one side of the tote bag. These masked areas will remain unpainted, forming a part of your design.

Dip your brushes into the Fastex Fabric Painting ink and start filling in the unmasked areas with vibrant colours. Don't worry if you get some paint on the tape; it will be removed later.

Step 5: Let it Dry: Allow your masterpiece to dry completely.

Clean your brushes and prepare for the next steps.

Step 6: Remove Masking Tape:

Gently peel off the masking tape to reveal the beautifully painted abstract areas. Watch as your design takes shape!

Step 7: Repeat on the Other Side:

Turn the tote bag over and repeat Steps 2 to 6 on the other side. This ensures that your bag is a work of art from all angles.

Step 8: Heat Setting:

Once both sides are thoroughly dry, follow the instructions in our video to heat set the Fastex Fabric Painting ink effectively.

Feel free to experiment with colour blending, stencils, and layering to add your unique touch to the design. Enjoy the creative process, and don't forget to share your masterpiece on the "Ideas for Art" blog!
