How to Fabric Paint a Tote Bag with Fastex Fabric Painting Ink

FAS Paint a Tote Bag with Fastex Textile Painting Ink

There has never been a better time to get creative and paint tote bags in the classroom.

Now that single-use plastic bags are no longer in New Zealand and Australian supermarkets.

What paint should I use for painting fabric tote bags?

Avoid acrylic paints as they tend to sit on the surface, making them prone to cracking or flaking off. Acrylic paints are not designed for flexible, moving surfaces.

Instead, opt for a Textile Ink like FAS Fastex.

Fabric Ink is ideal for this type of work. The colours are bright, permanent, non-toxic, and can be layered over and over without adding to the overall thickness. When heat-set or fixed by ironing the cotton bags, the fabric and textile ink are fused together. This makes the bags dry-cleanable, completely non-fading, and permanently washable.

What to Paint on the Bags:

The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Here are some videos and photos showcasing creatively painted designs on these canvas tote bags.
