FAS Painting Dye & Black Marker
Today we’re going to create colourful and expressive artwork using waterproof black markers and FAS Painting Dyes. This is a brilliant project that gives children the freedom to draw what they like and paint it with vibrant dye colours. It’s fun, it’s simple, and kids always love it.
You Will Need:
Waterproof black markers (Sharpies work great)
Fine paintbrushes
White art paper

Let’s Get Started:
Draw the picture first using a black waterproof marker. It can be anything – animals, houses, rockets, flowers. Let the kids use their imagination!
Encourage details. Black markers are great for adding little shapes, patterns and lines that pop once the colour goes on.
Paint using FAS Painting Dyes. Let the colours run into each other. Don’t worry if they go over the lines – this creates a lovely watercolour look.
Let it dry. Once dry, kids can go back in and add more black detail if they like.
Or try it in reverse! Let them dye the page first and draw on top once dry. Both ways work and are worth trying.
This is one of those activities that always works. It’s open-ended, so every child’s artwork will look different, and that’s what makes it exciting. The black lines hold strong and the dyes bring the artwork to life with colour. Simple. Creative. Effective.
