FAS Basic Primary Colour Combinations

What You'll Need:
  1. Paper

  2. Tempera Paints [ FAS Super Tempera ](Make sure to have the colours on the Free PDF template)

  3. Brushes and mixing trays or dishes

  4. Download the FAS Mixing Colours template PDF (see above).

  5. Apron and a cover sheet, newspapers or paper towels if needed


Let's Get Started:
  1. Download the Free Colour Mixing Worksheet PDF (see above).

  2. Set up your workspace with paper, paints, brushes, and mixing trays.

  3. Pour the first two paint colours into the trays, following the template.

  4. Encourage the children to mix the colours in the empty tray. You can demonstrate or let them explore on their own.

  5. Repeat the process for both the primary and secondary colour mixing sheets.

  6. Allow the paintings to dry and admire the beautiful range of colours the children have created!

Basic Primary Colour Combinations: Page 1

Red + Blue = Purple

Blue + Yellow = Green

Yellow + Red = Orange


Secondary Colour Combinations: Page 2

Red + Orange = Red Orange

Yellow + Green = Leaf (light green)

Blue + Purple = Ultra (warm blue)

Red + Purple = Red Purple

Yellow + Orange = Deep Yellow (warm yellow)

Blue + Green = Blue Green (jade)
