Hand Prints with FAS Super Tempera Paint:

Hand prints are one of those classic art activities that children never seem to get tired of. They're colourful, fun, a little messy, and make wonderful keepsakes for parents and grandparents.

Hand Prints

You Will Need

• Paper

• Shallow trays or plates

• Paint brushes

• Aprons

• Paper towels

• A bowl of water for washing hands

Let's Get Started

Before you begin, cover your table and have paper towels and water ready nearby.

Write each child's name on the back of their paper first. You'll thank yourself later!

Pour a small amount of paint into shallow trays.

There are two ways to get paint onto little hands:

Dip Method

Gently press the hand into the paint tray.

Brush Method

Paint the hand with a brush before making the print.

We find the brush method gives a cleaner print and creates less mess.

Once the hand is covered with paint, press it firmly onto the paper and carefully lift it away.

Wash and dry hands before changing colours.

Take It Further

When the paint is dry, children can turn their hand prints into animals, birds, fish, monsters, flowers, or funny characters using a black marker.

It's always amazing to see what they come up with!

Quick Tips

• Have paper towels ready before you start.

• Less paint often gives a better print.

• Bright colours work best.

• Clean hands between colours.

• Don't worry about perfection, every hand print is unique.
