- 1 min read

Today we’re making colourful creepy crawlies using printing plates and rollers. This is a fun way to get kids using their imagination while learning a simple art printing technique.

You Will Need
Scrap paper
Pencil
Polystyrene printing plates
Lino rollers
Black paper
White paper
Optional: FAS Studio Ink Extender for transparent colour effects

Steps
Draw your bug – On scrap paper, sketch your creepy crawly. Fill the page with detail.
Transfer your design – Using a pencil, copy your drawing onto the polystyrene printing plate. Don’t press too hard or you’ll make holes.
Ink it up – Use a lino roller to roll FAS Studio Ink onto your plate. Try starting with white ink on black paper for a striking first print.
Second print – Choose one bold colour for your second print. This time print on white paper.
Get creative – Mix different colours of FAS Studio Ink for your final prints. Kids love experimenting and seeing what new colours they can make.
Why This Activity Works
This printing project is simple, colourful, and a great way for children to explore patterns, shapes, and colour mixing. It works brilliantly in a classroom or at home and gives kids a finished piece they’ll be proud to show off.
